Before Your Appointment – Important Information

To ensure your appointment is covered by Bupa:

  • Contact Bupa first to confirm your policy includes podiatry and to get pre-authorisation for the correct procedure codes (see list below).

  • Check that your appointment is with a Bupa-registered podiatrist and that they are a named provider on your policy.

  • If you attend without authorisation, or see a non-registered podiatrist or physiotherapist, you will need to pay our self-pay rates.

  • If your Bupa policy has an excess, Bupa will notify you when it’s due. We will invoice you directly for any excess amount.

  • Some services are not covered — please check the exclusions list below.

Bupa-Covered Podiatry Services

Gait Analysis / Musculoskeletal (MSK) Analysis

  • Procedure Codes: AA641 + AA365

  • Bupa funds MSK Analysis appointments, which may include gait assessment and biomechanical analysis.

Verruca Treatment (SWIFT Therapy)

  • Procedure Codes: AA641 (Follow-up) + AA100 (SWIFT treatment) – both required for each appointment.

  • Bupa covers SWIFT verruca therapy for stubborn or painful verrucae.

  • Cryotherapy and other conservative verruca treatments are not covered under most policies.

Nail Surgery

  • Procedure Code: AA628 (Surgery) + at least 2 × AA641 (Follow-up appointments).

  • Covers partial or total nail removal under local anaesthetic for ingrown or damaged toenails.

  • Includes dressing changes and post-operative reviews.

Services Not Covered by Bupa

These are self-pay services:

  • Diagnostic ultrasound

  • Corticosteroid or Ostenil injections

  • Orthotics, braces, splints, and all medications

  • Routine foot care or conservative management of foot conditions

How to Book a Bupa Appointment with Us

  1. Call Bupa to confirm cover and request authorisation codes for the relevant procedure(s).

  2. Book your appointment with us, providing:

    • Bupa membership number

    • Authorisation code(s)

  3. Attend your appointment — we bill Bupa directly (you only pay any excess).
